History of the Hammered Dulcimer

"DULCI" in Latin means sweet, pleasant, and charming

The hammered dulcimer has a distinct resonant sound. This sound is soothing and unique.

The dulcimer dates back 5,000-6,000 years to the Persian Gulf. The harpsichord was birthed from the dulcimer and the piano was birthed from the harpsichord. Piano string, hammers and the tuning mechanism are the three components that connect the three instruments together.
